This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of working with some of the most hardworking students I have ever met. They might come from low income, high poverty areas, but their thirst for knowledge is inspiring. Our school is Title I where the majority of students get free or reduced-price lunch. Even though every student understands where they come from, when they come to my class, they are like every other child in the world. They love music, sports, tv, movies, and video games. They are smart, funny, creative, happy, motivated young people.

My Project

Wellness is a concept that has embraced the nation in stride. Learning how to exercise safely is crucial to this movement. My students think that just picking up the heaviest weight, throwing it around, and putting it back down will make you stronger. Lifting is an excellent way to burn fat, build muscle, and build endurance. But if you don't do it correctly you could get seriously hurt.

My students need low weights to practice the correct form so later in life they don't hurt themselves when trying to be healthy on their own.

The more my students are able to practice with low weight the better prepared they will be. I plan on using these weights during a circuit type unit as well during station work.
