Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The Tiger Scholar students reside in a community that demands them to being protected from the earth elements and crime. These at-risk scholars are brilliantly smart and face the debts of poverty, crime, and low income. Despite these multiple issues which often impede their ability to learn, these scholars fight to excel in academia. Our parents are low income and rely on public assistance. These factors are contributors to our students not having proper seasonal attire and school supplies. These challenges are not deterrence on our scholars zest and desire towards taking advantage of learning.

When placed in an academic setting, our at-risk scholars push themselves towards excelling in all their subject core areas of learning.

“Learning is first and foremost” for our challenged scholars. These students give their all knowing that their academic greatness will help to remove them from the playground of ignorance thus, their urban community. Fighting for a way out is another anthem that our students salute when dreaming of their future greatness. Our students look to us as their provider of academic learning tool, clothes, social, and emotional support. As a school family we love that our scholars work hard and give their all.

My Project

This grant is seeking outwear gear for at-risk students who must withstand various weather conditions in their pursuit of an education. Proper attire is what this grant seeks for turbulent weather conditions these scholars face on their journey to school. Through providing these at-risk students with outwear gear it will help to protect students from major health issues (flu, strep, cold, viruses, etc.) that impedes their ability to learn due to absenteeism. A jacket and umbrella will shield these students as they make their journey to and from school.

Donations to this project will instill students’ with pride and self-awareness that the generosity of others played a major factor on their ability to be protected while learning.

Also, this grant will foster students’ humility through increasing their self-esteem because of receiving the clothing items that they need. Students will be free to learn as they are no longer anxious by personal issues that weigh them down. Students’ attendance and health issues will decrease due to wearing proper attire given to them through grant funding.
