This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 8th-grade students are really amazing. They are comprised of sheltered, English only, reclassified ELL, Read 180 and GATE students. They are from different parts of the world with different cultures, customs, and values towards education and learning.
My students are from low-income families.
My students are faced with many life challenges. Many of them are raised in foster care homes. I let my students know that where determination exists, failure cannot dismantle the flag of success. They love to learn and explore new ideas and findings.
My school is a Title I school with most of the students receiving free breakfast and reduced-price lunch.
My Project
The tablet will be used daily at school by my students to complete various assignments such as projects, research papers, and journal articles. This will completely change my students' approach and attitude towards learning as the stress and fear of uncompleted assignments will be drastically reduced.
Currently, my class has two old tablets that my students loan and share to meet up with assignments due dates of which one is broken.
This tablet will increase my students' interest and zeal in science especially now we are implementing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in my class. In my science class, I have always created an enabling environment for my students to explore and learn. This tablet will be of good help.
