it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My seventh and eighth-grade students are an exuberant bunch of teens who love to socialize and have fun.
My students are diversity personified: from painfully shy to audacious, from studious to silly, from spoiled to neglected, from being treasured to experiencing trauma.
When I greet them each day, some are ready to be challenged and others are ready to be challenging. In middle school, you never know what the day might hold. One thing is for certain: most days are extremely busy and completely unpredictable!
My Project
With COVID-19 raging in our county, I want to be prepared to protect my students and me from the virus with masks, face shields, gloves, and hand sanitizer. Our school district is facing an $11 million shortfall for the upcoming school year, so I don't believe that we will have the money to purchase protective gear for our classrooms. Rather than wait to see if our district will find the funds to adequately protect us from the coronavirus, I'd like to be ready proactively.
Waiting to hear the details about how and when school will open is extremely anxiety-provoking because many students and I have pre-existing conditions: I'd like to be prepared, and it's always better to be safe than sorry!
