Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
About 15 years ago, our PreK - 8 public school lost its library position and had to close our school library. At that time, we lost an important part of our school and our community. Over the past two years, we have worked hard through, as a school community, to rebuild our library (including replacing furniture from 1995 and ordering about 1500 new book titles)! We are almost ready to reopen.
We are requesting book bins to organize our library, both so that students can find their favorite titles and learn to keep books organized.
Our vision for our library is to have students utilize it during the day as both a library and as an inviting area for small groups that are pulled out from class. After school, the library would be open to student families to bring children to check out books and/or educational games and toys. These products will engage both our students and their families.
