This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school each day and leave behind all the difficulties of their home lives. These kids are an inspiration! My students live in extreme poverty, but they don't let that hinder their drive for success! Our school is a unique, one-of-a-kind opportunity for these inner-city kids to get the most out of their education through academic rigor and recognition for their hard work, and I am determined to do what it takes to help them achieve that!
My Project
Our school is in the highest poverty area in Indianapolis. Our school is a great place to learn, but the furniture is old and worn down! Over the years I've collected and refurbished random pieces of furniture...but I'd love to give my students a cohesive looking classroom!
My students need several sets of shelves and organizational tools to help our room run more smoothly and efficiently!
Organization is a skill I am working to teach my students, but it's often hard when I don't have enough places to keep things neat and tidy! I'd love to have a shelf, bin, or box to put everything, so our room looks cozy and inviting but is very well organized!
