Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school where 100% of students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. All of my students come from a low income neighborhood where most parents have to work countless hours to provide basic needs for their children.
My students are loving, energetic and eager learners who come from diverse cultural backgrounds and all are learning English as a second language.
For the majority of my students, my classroom is their first school experience and most enter with limited previous exposure to academic and social settings outside of their homes. Because I am aware of the hardships that come with economic limitations, I strive to provide them with diverse resources to allow them to grow academically and shine individually.
My Project
In order to keep our room organized and ready for student use we need different storage and organizational supplies. My students have started working with Dash and Botley robots but we do not have a specific place to organize them and make sure they are charged. The metal rolling utility cart, hooks and folding basketball hoop toy organizers will help us keep our robots in order and ready to use. The rolling cart, books bins and rotating caddies will help my students keep their everyday supplies and books organized and close for everyday use. The magnetic sentence strips and magnetic folder bins will help me display and keep teacher materials close during reading and guided writing.
A room full of 5 and 6-year-olds is sweet chaos but it needs to be organized so it's ready for my students' learning needs!
An organized room will also help my students during transitions and clean-up. When my students know where to find the materials they need, they can focus more on learning and less on finding materials. Thank you for considering our classroom project.
