Help me give my students file crates, copy paper, and file folders for the supplies to better organize their assignments and motivate them to turn in their work.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
So few people know innately how important organization is to productivity. It is a skill that needs developing over the course of years, and many people struggle with it well into their adult lives. It is because of this that I have my students complete their work in a binder, making note of learning targets and homework for each day. I have found this an immensely useful tool in the classroom as it helps students to settle into the class and all students know what to expect at the beginning of each class.
Giving students the room to develop their organizational skills is so important for their success.
It is, however, very demanding in terms of materials needed. Students love to earn stamps on assignments and build up their binders, which is something that is difficult to replicate with digital notebooks. Additionally, many students are more motivated to complete assignments that are on paper rather than digital assignments. Bringing my students the supplies needed to maintain their binders will truly help them as they progress through my class and into the rest of their lives.
