I teach a group of eager and very active Kindergarten students whose needs range from talented and gifted to students who need intensive interventions to be successful in school. A typical day in our Kindergarten classroom involves a lot of activity. The students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their classmates, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in our classroom. My students are learning through hands on experiences and movement.
My Project
I love teaching Kindergarten! Our classroom is full of eager, active learners. We are like a big happy family. We encourage and help take care of each other.
One of my favorite things about Kindergarten is teaching students how to read!
This can be difficult for some students who are not developmentally ready. I strive to provide a learning environment that students thrive in and enjoy. I want them excited about coming to school each day. I like to provide learning stations that keep them engaged and learning at the same time. Bringing iPads into the classroom is a great way to engage all learners and promote learning in nontraditional ways. iPads provide many benefits to a kindergarten classroom. At this age, many students are just learning how to form and write their letters. There are several apps that allow this type of practice for students. Alligator Apps, Little Writer is one app that I love my students to work with. This app teaches how to form and write letters by allowing the child to move characters up, down and around to form letters, number, shapes and words. Another app I've discovered is Originator Reader. This app breaks apart works and has the child put the word back together and sounds out the word one letter at a time. This helps students learn how to decode words. I would also like to use the iPads in my reading stations. This would allow my students to play interactive learning games with each other.
Kindergarten students are eager to learn. Providing a wide variety of learning opportunities increases their chance to be successful. By providing such technology, I will be able to provide quality age appropriate learning stations. This would make learning interactive and fun. My students will be given an amazing
