This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm sure we can all agree on the importance and necessity of a whiteboard in a classroom--I use the whiteboard all day, every day to help me teach and my students to learn. Currently, our school does not have the funds to purchase smart boards, which would help make lessons more engaging and interactive for students. However, an iPad CAN turn a regular whiteboard into a smart board for a fraction of the cost!
Years ago, when I was issued a classroom iPad, I downloaded and used an app to turn my whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard, and my students' engagement in lessons skyrocketed!
It was SO great, because with the iPad in my hand I could circle the room while teaching a lesson versus having to be stationed at the front of the room next to the whiteboard. I could also very easily hand the whiteboard to a student and ask them to contribute their thinking to the current lesson. Students would be falling out of their seats to get their hands on the iPad and to see their writing appear on the whiteboard (lol)! The iPad also allowed me to control my computer remotely which, again, enabled me to walk around the room and practice more proximity with my students. Every student benefitted from this, not just the ones who struggled with retaining their focus and attention.
By donating to our project, you will help to increase my students' attention, focus and engagement in lessons. You will help to encourage students to share their thoughts and ideas more often--especially with the help of the apple pencil!
