My students are kind and eager to learn. They work so hard every day and are especially excited in anything that involves technology.
Project-based learning is an integral part of what we do every day.
Kids are collaborating every day and developing skills they will use for the rest of their lives.
I have seen such amazing progress with even the most reluctant writers when they move from pencil and paper to the computer screen.
My school is a public school located in MA. We are a K-8 school, with 897 students currently enrolled. Students at this school come from a variety of economic backgrounds. About sixty-two percent come from low-income families. Many children are first and second-generation immigrants. The diversity in this school is magnificent, we speak many languages-French Creole, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, and English. We celebrate how fortunate we are to educate so many children from all over the world.
Located north of Boston, our district is extremely ethnically diverse; over 60 languages are spoken throughout the district. In addition, many of our students receive reduced-rate or free lunch.
My Project
With the addition of an iPad to our classroom, my students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher-level learning. An iPad helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners. Technology like this will individualize their learning experiences. The iPad will also be a great tool that will help my students build 21st-century skills that our children need to compete in our world of technology. My students spend a great deal of the time in project-based learning and will use the video component of the iPad for presenting their work. Imagine the pride they will feel showing the people in their life what they are capable of!
