Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school has made tremendous gains over the past twelve years, moving from one of the lowest-performing schools in the area to achieving the honor of being named a California Distinguished School!
We are an example of a community of students, teachers, parents, and staff all working together for academic achievement.
Our hope is that many of our students will be the first generation in their families to go to college!
The majority of my students are English language learners (ELLs) whose families are newcomers to America. They are highly motivated to learn and prosper.
My Project
An iPad will help my English language learners who have recently come to our country. They will be able to use a variety of apps that will help them acquire English and practice their math concepts and skills. The iPad also has the ability to translate from my students' primary language to English. This will be extremely beneficial for my students.
My English language learners will not only be able to learn English with the iPad, but will also be able to conduct research in their home language and translate it via the Internet, learn and practice their math skills, read electronic books, watch educational videos, and learn to type.
Since I am requesting only one iPad at a time, my plans are to develop a rotational schedule where each student will have access to the iPad at least once a day.
With your help, my students will have a valuable resource that will make a lasting impact on their lives and education. Thank you so much for your generous donation and for caring about our lives.
