Currently my 12 severely handicapped students are spread out across 2 of NYC’s 5 boroughs. Our school was closed a week prior to the whole NYC school system. Unlike most students, my kids cannot do work on their own. Their disabilities preclude them from independent work. They require complete support. We are using various programs to deliver instruction to them. We have also dropped materials to their homes.

Ok Our current technology is dated and beginning to fail.
We never expected to use it so frequently. Every time a device breaks, another student cannot be reached. We are working all outlets to secure more.
This technology will be used to teach students to be more independent. It can be used as a mode of communication. It will be used in teaching them shopping skills. They can use the iPad to search flyers for deals to learn to shop and manage money; get directions on how to travel to the store. It can also be used to look up recipes and instructions. Things that may be the norm for us are skills that our students need to develop.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
