Ms. Klingbeil from South Ozone Park NY is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

An iPad a Day Will Keep the Nurse Away

My students need 4 iPads. For children with poor fine-motor skills, the touch-screen design is easier to use than a desktop computer with a mouse.

My Students

My class consists of 13 amazing students. These students are of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning important life skills. Our class loves to play outside, learn new games, and read stories on the carpet.

In our classroom, we find it important to build positive relationships and spread kindness.

We celebrate little wins together each day. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to be their teacher.

My Project

iPads are engaging to students because there’s instant feedback. They are easy to operate, it can read to the students if they need it to read to them, they can make items on the screen bigger or smaller. Additionally, iPads motivate students to learn.

iPads are especially helpful for special-need students.

With touch screens instead of pen and paper or a point-and-click mouse, tablets can be much easier for my students with fine motor difficulties to use. These iPads will be used to assist my students with reading, writing, phonics, and math. Currently, our class takes turn using my personal iPad. I have seen unmotivated students become motivated to learn when using the iPad.
