Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are learning disabled. They are autistic with a modified curriculum to serve each student individually. My students are a unique group that strives to learn. I work with the students in small groups and one-on-one. We have a close-knit group, and all of my students are happy in the school environment.

Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area and most of our student population is culturally diverse.

My students are challenged inside the classroom and within our community but they work hard to do their best.

After a year of online classes due to Covid 19, the students are returning to our school. A class with visual aid will support the students' organization routine in a new school environment. All of my students are working below grade level in reading and language arts. Our goal, as a class, is to make learning gains to reach each student's own individual learning potential before graduating high school.

My Project

The materials I'm requesting will be used in our school classroom. My students are autistic and visual aid within our class will support them with their organizational routines. In addition, some of the students in my class draw very well, and displaying their artwork within our class and in the art galleries in our school throughout the school year will support what I tell them every day that we are all talented in different ways and that we need to find our talent and pursue it.

The notebooks and sharpener are essential for our daily classes but unfortunately, many students can't afford these supplies.

The students use a notebook per subject and they each have eight subjects. These school supplies will help my students stay organize and focus on learning. The American flag is inspirational to our students as it is a symbol of freedom, dignity, and the true meaning of being an American.

These supplies will give my students a classroom where they can feel empowered to learn every day.
