Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are independent, eager learners at the Computer Science Virtual Academy. My class consists of 30, 9th graders who are learning multiple subjects. This class includes English language learners and some students with learning differences. My students face barriers that include low-income backgrounds and limited access to high-quality technology.
Since we are learning online, this requires excellent technological resources so my students have equitable access to high-quality education.
An iMac will allow me to efficiently teach via Zoom while also managing all the tasks that are required of a Virtual Academy teacher (calling/emailing families and inputting contact logs, attendance records, grading, managing classes via our learning platform, etc). It will also allow me to access Apple educational apps that will help with student engagement and buy-in. These tasks require a powerful and fast computer that allows me to do multiple things at the same time without causing slow or interrupted processing. My students and I will highly benefit from an iMac!
