Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being at our school for several years, I have gotten the chance to really get to know many of the students in the school, including those I have never taught. Many of them have gone through seriously adverse situations and misfortunes that impact their everyday life, especially their education. I am amazed at how resilient they can be, and how they push through to the best of their abilities regardless of hardships that affect them. Being a fifth-grade teacher has shown me how fast some students have to mature. I have taught their younger siblings in previous years (coming up from kindergarten and first grade) and see how they take care of their family. Each child that I have gotten to know at this school has my heart.
I want nothing but the best for all of these students, and that includes giving them hands-on experiences that will be memorable to them.
My students need to be able to feel like school isn't another one of their draining duties or work. I want all of them to enjoy school and look forward to each day in my class, whether in person or virtually. They truly deserve the best!
My Project
I was able to get two new durable bookshelves funded for my classroom, but it looks like we are going to need one more! My class has so many awesome things coming to them lately, and we need more storage space for them.
I want to be able to provide my students with a neat and organized classroom library so they are encouraged to read with ease.
In order to achieve that, we will need one more bookshelf that I already have the perfect spot for. I know that my class will be excited to see that every book officially has a home!
