My Students

My students are AMAZING! Despite growing up in a rural school district with very few opportunities, they make the best of what they have. 90% of them receive free or reduced lunch and live well below the poverty line. However, rarely do they complain about their surroundings! My students deserve the BEST.

I would love to give my students access to a desk top computer to check out books from our library.

Currently we use a portable chrome book but it is very small and students struggle to see the screen and operate the mouse on the small boxes. My ultimate goal is to create a more 21st century library and opportunities for students to want to come to the library using technology. Access to a computer with a bigger screen will simplify the checkout process and hopefully encourage more students to check out books from the library.

My Project

Reading is fundamental! It is essential to student progress in any academic area. This computer will allow students to access books in hard copies to encourage reading. When children read books that they are interested in, it builds vocabulary and a love for reading. This computer will give my students access to a world that they have not considered before.

Books allow students to escape from their reality, without this computer my students can not access these books.

Allowing them to read will increase their performance in all academic areas!
