This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
I want my students to have the resources they need in order to be successful.
It is so important that my students have a safe, fun environment from the minute they walk in the door of my classroom to the time they are dismissed. Each student is different, socially, emotionally and academically. I focus on their individual potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
The easel will be a great way for all students to have the ability to see the content that is being taught. Depending on how many students are at the back table, it can become difficult to see everything! The magnetic charts will provide any additional hands on support for my students. They will have opportunities to manipulate sentence strips and so on. What better way to learn then having hands on opportunities to assist in reinforcing the skills. They will learn Fundations, math, reading and writing with these resources! These materials will provide endless opportunities for my students! They will have many chances to manipulate sentence strips and so on. What better way to learn then having hands on opportunities to assist in reinforcing the skills?
Differentiating instruction is not always, easy especially when you do not have the resources readily available!
My students are amazing second graders with a variety of learning styles, skills and ability.
When we are working at the table in the back, they are too often restricted to a certain amount of space. During small group instruction, it is necessary that I have the resources readily available to ensure the most effective instruction. Every minute counts and I want to make sure that no time is wasted!
