An Easel For The Artists and Creators In Our Classroom
Help me give my students the opportunity to create art work on an easel. An easel will allow my students to work comfortably and view their artwork with perspective as they express themselves and experiment with new materials.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Painting is a way for children to do many important things: build self-confidence as they put their ideas into action, make decisions as they use the materials, explore color, express emotions, use their senses, explore processes and outcomes, and create aesthetically pleasing works while they develop their motor control and coordination.
My students can access different materials in our Art Center, but we are missing an easel.
An easel is, along with paints and brushes, the fine art material with which the image of painters is most associated. This support is used to fix the paper on which the painting is done. Although it is not an essential element, it is very comfortable for most artists because it keeps the board at the appropriate height and in a vertical or inclined position. An easel in our classroom would allow my students to work comfortably and view their artwork with perspective.
The easel we need comes with additional features, such as 2 plastic trays for storage,, allowing children to keep their materials organized and easily accessible. It also has a drying rack to slide their artwork onto when they're done creating.
There is another reason why my students need an easel in our classroom: easels are vertical surfaces that help children with their motor coordination and posture, contributing to their handwriting skills. Easels encourage children's wrists to bend upward, just as they do when writing. Standing before an easel is also suitable for strengthening the upper arm and shoulders. Working on an easel requires the child to stand upright, encouraging good posture.
An easel in our classroom would be of great benefit to the artists, discoverers, and creators in our class.
