This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This fall, I’ll be teaching eighteen, energetic, amazing and fabulous first graders in an urban PreK-8th grade school. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch and many of them come from families that are living well below the poverty line. They are all so special because they always come to school with smiles on their faces, eager and ready to learn, no matter what the circumstances, especially during these trying times. That type of enthusiasm and willingness to learn inspires me to do and want more for them.
My Project
My students use Apple iPads everyday during our literacy and math block for intervention and enrichment. The digital programs that we use have been a wonderful resource to help them achieve success in literacy and math. Initially, families are asked to purchase a pair of headphones for use in school with the iPads.
Unfortunately, some families are unable to afford a good, sturdy pair of headphones, leaving many of my students left without any.
In order for the students to get the most out of these programs on their iPads, all other noise must be cancelled out. They all need headphones to do that.
The pencil pouches are also a great resource to keep our other supplies organized.
