My Students
I am blessed with 19 first grade students in my classroom who are eager to learn and explore the world around them. However, my students come from many different backgrounds, which sometimes makes it difficult for students to be exposed to grade-level content at home.
Students come from homes that are unable to provide basic supplies, not to mention school supplies.
They are made up from a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced lunches. 68% of our students are on the free or reduced-price meal program. My students are very grateful for your support!
My Project
My first grade students have been using Chromebooks all year to support their learning in the classroom. Our class needs these headphones because, of course, these pieces of technology make noise and can become very distracting. It has been amazing to see students take ownership of their learning through the use of Chromebooks. Students are creating Flipgrid videos to improve their reading fluency and using Dreambox to further their math skills. Although we have headphones to provide individual focus for students, many of our headphones have deteriorated and do not work anymore.
Having headphones for each student will help improve my classroom environment and individual learning.
Providing students with headphones will also help the other students in the classroom who are not using technology at the same time because they will be able to concentrate on the task that they are working on.
