My Project

Teaching art to young people is such a unique and pleasing experience. Can you remember the sparks of joy in your heart as you walked into your school's creative spaces? Our school provides the art department with a small budget for art materials, but we keep and salvage everything we can to provide for our classrooms. Every learning experience should start with a comfortable and supportive place to work. The current stools in our classroom have bent legs, missing screws which cause the legs to constantly fall apart and are not comfortable to sit in for almost hour-long classes. My students often complain about the stools being uncomfortable while they're working, which can deter their focus during studio time. Our drafting tables have also seen better days. They no longer can function as drafting tables as the pieces are broken and/or missing. The tops are also beginning to become detached and have so many grooves and carvings in them from the years that as students draw, their papers are ripping or have impressions of what was on the table. Our students try their hardest to create work worthy of the various state and national contests they have entered and placed in. Our students must have equitable environments that enrich and make their arts education its very best so that they can keep creating their best!
