This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a kindergarten ICT class, made of 40% special education students and 60% regular education students.
My class of 25 kindergarteners has unique personalities and varying academic levels ranging from kindergarten to second grade.
My students are part of a larger school community of about 700 students. Compared to other New York City Schools, we are much smaller. While our small size has a lot of pros there are also many cons; one being the lack of space that our school has along with a smaller budget. While we try to use our budget wisely providing a great number of resources for our students, we often do not have many of the things that we need to help all our students be successful.
My Project
My students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher level learning. An iPad helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize their learning experiences. The iPad will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom as well as build twenty-first century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world.
iPads are integral and amazing tools that should be present in every classroom.
Without consistent access to technology, my students are not able to access 21st century skills. I believe that they should not be held back because of lack of funds, but deserve to explore and learn on the same level as students who have this access. Our classroom will be forever changed by the addition of iPads. All students will be able to access learning through technology on a daily basis.
