An Apple iPad a Day Keeps the Programmers Saying YAY!

My students need five iPads with cases to learn how to code as they become computer programmers.

My Students

Our school has a long history embedded into the community we serve. Students are excited to attend school where many of their parents and even grandparents went before them. I have an exciting opportunity to start a STEAM Resource program for the first time! When you walk into my classroom you won't see students sitting in desks diligently taking notes, instead you'll see students brainstorming ideas, drawing images, building models, testing their solution, and more!

My students are spunky, inquisitive, and hardworking.

"I never knew school could be this fun!" a student shouted to a group member as they were working on a STEAM project. It is moments like these that push me to ensure that my students always have opportunities for hands-on, real-life learning experiences. It is wonderful donors, like yourself, that can help me to provide these experiences to our youngest learners!

My Project

iPads are incredibly versatile tools for students of all ages. We have Ozobots and COJI robots heading into our classroom to be used to teach students how to code. We will be able to make these tools even more applicable by adding iPads to be able to code them in their respective applications. Students are getting the hang of coding both unplugged and on the computer. However, I also want to teach them how to see their coding in action. The applications we can use on iPads will allow me to do just that.

In spring 2018 we will be participating in a STEAM competition.

In order to prepare for this event we will be holding practices before school. By having iPads, students will be able to practice their coding skills, along with their social skills as they work as a team. These social skills will help us as we practice for our timed events for the competition. I cannot wait to see how my students grow as coders and computer programmers. Their analytical thinking as blown me away so far and I can't wait to see what they're able to do with the iPads. Can you help us continue to grow as engineers?
