"Focus, pay attention, please listen to me"...these words I seem to repeat all the time. It's time to change those phrases to: "You did a great job listening! Or I am proud of how well you paid attention!"
I have 25 beautiful five and six years old students in my classroom.
Seventy-five percent of them are Hispanic-Latino, and most of them are on free or reduced-price lunch. My kids are sweet, inquisitive, funny, and excited about learning. They come to school daily eager to learn all they can.
My Project
Our lunch time is at 10:30 am. Every afternoon the children get hungry and need a snack to keep them focused on learning tasks. These different kinds of snacks will enable them to use their whole school day engaged in activities, rather than focusing on their stomach telling them it is time to eat. Often I hear the children say, "I am hungry!"
If the right foods are offered at the right times, snacks can play an important role in managing kids' hunger, boosting nutrition as well as stay focused.
A well-timed snack can even out spikes in hunger and provide a much-needed energy boost between meals. A healthy body which gets all that it needs to run effectively is essential. They definitely need an afternoon snack.
