My Students

An Apple (MacBook Pro computer) for the teacher and her students would be wonderful! We rely on our Promethean board so much but the matured MacBook that we use is getting old and so slow that some programs just don't work on it.

I teach a class of 33 wonderful, energetic students who love to participate in my lessons and activities.

This year, two-thirds of my students migrated from other countries and are on their way to mastering the English language. I am always looking for new and creative ways to get them interested and involved in every lesson. Unfortunately, we are in a very large Pennsylvania public school system, that is currently experiencing a fiscal crisis, and can't afford to upgrade the dinosaur, the old laptop computer, in our classroom. One hundred percent of my class receives free breakfast and lunch, which means they are living at or below the poverty level and without your help, my students won't be able to use the latest, greatest, and most advanced computer programs.

My Project

Our laptop and Promethean board are used from the moment the students walk in the room until the end of the day, when they sadly have to leave. We take attendance, watch the news, and use a variety of interactive games, power point presentations and an assortment of other programs and videos that entice my students to actively participate. With a new MacBook Pro computer, my students will benefit from using the latest, greatest and newest computer programs on a much faster computer.

My students will benefit from this project because they will be able to use the most recent, advanced programs, games and power point presentations that require a much faster computer.
