My students face many challenges in regards to cognitive, motor, emotional, and attentional delays. They are expected to learn parts of the Common Core. This device and the applications available, would be very beneficial to support their curriculum.
My students go to school in Connecticut and have many difficulties.
Some are Autistic, have Attention Deficit Disorder, are Learning Disabled, Dyslexic, or Cognitively Challenged. This town has seen a lot of turmoil this year and these children have definitely been affected. As a result, school is not seen as a safe or favorite place to be, as it had been in the past. This device could serve as a motivating factor during their day. They would also benefit from an iPad to help secure their skills with applications related to their goals and objectives. Some of my students can not write well. This would be a tool for them, due to the fact some of them can identify letters and type better than forming letters. There are also writing apps that have word prediction software which would benefit my learning disabled or dyslexic students.
My Project
This resource will change my student's lives by exposing them to programs through the Apple company which would benefit their learning styles and their varied levels of performance. I will be able to introduce topics to them using visual and auditory modalities. It can also support them by using the modality of the touch screen, which is another pathway into the brain. The iPad can also record voices, and read back text which the children have written. The possibilities are endless.
I feel this would be a good investment in children who are often overlooked and just need a little extra help to achieve their maximum potential.
This investment would yield many returns with these children in many different areas. I would consider this a varied investment portfolio if it were stocks. These children are our stocks in the future.
