My Students
Life has become very different for me and my students. Our new normal began once the school district announced that the remainder of the last school year will be virtual. As a teacher, seeing students every day prior to this pandemic was taken for granted. I wanted to remain connected to my students during these unprecedented times. Overall, the students I service are the most fragile students.
My students want to learn but are often distracted by external stimuli and circumstances beyond their control.
The reality is that our school is situated in a poverty-stricken, crime-ridden neighborhood. Our students are often products of generational struggles they cannot readily comprehend.
My Project
Having access to reliable technology is essential for the success of distance learning. Without reliable technology, students will not have access to engaging face-to-face lessons. Students rely on teachers during these times of uncertainty; however, it is becoming challenging when the technology that is currently being used is not reliable. The Mac Book Air laptop will be used to personalize my lessons, annotate text, and bring the teaching to life with videos.
With the updated technology like the Mac Book Air, I will be able to dig deeper into my instruction and bring innovative ways to reach my students.
I will also be able to interact face-to-face with my students utilizing the camera function to be able to personalize my instruction. It is imperative that I have the right tools to be effective. Distance learning requires that I monitor my students' active engagement and keep all my students fully engaged and excited. The Apple Macbook Air laptop will provide the means for interactive teaching and learning.
The laptop will always allow my students and me to be visible and will be used to store valuable resources for my lessons. If I have the tools that I need to be able to teach online, my students will be able to take advantage of what I have to offer them. Having the technology tools needed is very important to get the job done right.
