My Students
The School District of Philadelphia closed its classroom doors on March 13th, 2020 due to Covid-19. Immediately, teachers and families were thrown into an unknown, virtual world, navigating through what we now call distance learning.
Technology became vital as teachers created online classrooms, complete with assignments, brain brakes and an opportunity to conduct live students "meets".
Thankfully, my district provided students with Chromebooks and I was able to use my personal computer to complete the school year.
My Project
Over the last few months, many of my students have proved that diligent work doesn't exist only within the walls of my classroom. They have worked extremely hard, navigating a new online world as the rest of the world deals with a global pandemic.
It was during this pandemic that I found myself attempting to create a virtual classroom that reflected not only the physical space, but the academic rigor that my students meet each and every day.
My hope for the Fall is to create the most up-to-date classroom experience through Google Suite. With an iPad, my ability to create interactive slides, videos and assignments would be achieved. Through distance learning, I was able to recognize the importance of technology and how important it is to incorporate new technological practices into instruction.
With an up-to-date computer, my ability to create said spaces and assignments would become that much more possible while working remotely or within the school building itself.
