An Apple a Day Keeps Young Minds Strong

Help me give my students 3 iPads in order to work on current educational apps to help build on their academic levels, abilities and confidence.

My Students

I teach 18 AWESOME kindergarten students. They all bring their unique personalities and backgrounds to create a well-rounded class. I have students from a variety of academic levels, cultural backgrounds, and economic status.

In today's society, technology is the "now." My kindergartners are capable and eager to use this if they are given the opportunity.

It does not matter what my students' background is; the one area that they have in common is their eagerness to learn and use technology.

My Project

Giving my students the ability to work daily on iPads would help them in areas such as letter recognition, letter sound fluency, phonemic awareness and introduction to reading. With iPads, I would introduce them to apps such as, Lexia Core 5. This program would help me provide explicit, systematic, and personalized learning for each student within their literacy needs. Depending on these needs, students would work daily on this app for 10 to 20 minutes. It would help them gain confidence and develop the "I can do it" mind set. This technological tool would help give them a better understanding of concepts, increase academics, be used as an intervention tool and let the students do this while having FUN!!!

Lets face it, these days, students are eager to get their hands on technology and are willing to try anything in front of them if given the opportunity.
