Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember being in kindergarten? When we think of kindergarten, we think of fun, making connections, hands-on learning, and being engaged and stimulated. Now take a moment to think of everything going on in our world right now. Can you imagine going to kindergarten for the first time (just as eager and excited as ever) in our current situation? It's probably a completely different image than what you might remember. I teach in a high-poverty area of New Mexico. Our school is Title I, and 100% of our student population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am wanting to create as much normalcy as possible.

I want to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences no matter what environment they are forced to learn in. I want their kindergarten experience to be as special as anyone else's might have been.

My Project

Now that I am solely dependent on my devices to teach my students, it is more important than ever that they are in good working condition in order to be successful. Right now I am borrowing a loner device as my laptop hit the fitz. I am constantly having to reboot and reset my device for it to work properly.

This laptop will help my young students have uninterrupted contact with me during our daily live google meet lessons and asynchronous seesaw learning time, which is imperative during distance learning.

In order to teach daily, I need my laptop at least 90% of the time for my students. I need this laptop for Google meets, seesaw lessons, morning calendar, daily announcements, fundation letter work, journal writing, stepping stones math, and an occasional digital recess/ lunch with the teacher!
