An Apple A Day, Keeps Illiteracy In Math Away!

Help me give my students the technology that they need. My students are from underprivileged homes in the South Bronx. They all receive free breakfast and lunch as a result. My students would truly appreciate your support.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a NYC teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district in the South Bronx, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students are on the autism spectrum and are enrolled in a specialized school. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things predictable and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

I would like to provide my students with technological tools to meet each of their individualized needs and interest.

Many of the children do not have access to technology such as I-Pads at home. They are highly motivated to work on challenging task on the I-Pad.

My Project

The Apple IPads will provide opportunities to apply strategies to solve math problems. The IPads will provide activities that my students will be able to utilize their reading skills to comprehend a word problem. The IPads will be fun and provide interactive activities for my students. In addition, some of these activities will provide data in order for me as the teacher to monitor their academic growth and areas of weakness that need to be addressed. The cases will protect the investment that you have generously donated to my students. The black ink will supplement the ink that the school provides to our classroom.
