My Project
Many of our students do not yet communicate using their words. One way to help them learn to talk is to provide them with visuals and a way to access those visuals quickly.
Many of our students work really hard to be able to get their meaning across, yet when they have access to lots of pictures on an iPad it opens up their language.
Our nonverbal autistic students will benefit immensely from increasing their communication and the iPad. Having an effective means to communicate helps to detour students from engaged in challenging behavior. The iPad will be a tool to use sound/words and visual aides to communicate.
The iPad will allow students to touch visual supports to communicate words. It will also allow them to access our TeachTown platform, which is created for autistic students.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
