Currently my students work in a variety of locations in our room. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given activities organized by color and hero names. It also promotes teamwork and a sense of joy rather than resentment when seats are assigned in a fun way. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just told what to do without motivation.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when their environment is colorful, organized, and uplifting. We chant superhero themes and they earn a cape for week for exceeding expectations.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional incentive material and organized seating options to make more effective transitions. The punch cards and pocket organizers will allow students to see and track behavior and academic success. The seat pockets will allow students to access daily work study mateitials in an organized manner. This also teaches them responsibility for maintaining their work space. They can also be used as an alternative way for sped students to quickly identify the next station rotation as we transition from one group activity to the next. the borders are used to cover our hallway bulletin board, which displayed our students work.
I have seen how a bright room and motivational theme can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more
