My Project

Establishing routines has always been a bit tricky for my students, especially because they meet with me outside of their classroom for reading intervention. However, once established, my students thrive. It's been the same way with learning technology in the classroom. Navigating through the basic functions of a computer and being able to access multiple websites for learning (not to mention having to remember your student ID and password) has brought about many emotions in the classroom. It's even harder for our kindergarten and first-grade students to remember to bring their computers to the intervention room during our sessions. The students love working with technology in the classroom and I want to give them the same opportunities during intervention time.

We need technology, We need a laptop!

In the classroom, the classroom teacher incorporates blended learning, which means that there is an emphasis on direct instruction as well as technology-based instruction. While students have access to several laptops in their classroom, when students visit my classroom for intervention, this essential piece for instruction is missing.

The MacBook Pro is a powerhouse laptop that provides us with endless opportunities for utility.

This is the gatekeeper of all individual student files for the year, pictures from field trips, individualized learning programs for the kids, and more. This laptop will be stationary in the intervention room at all times and ready for students to access. When we are unable to charge the device, the battery length will last throughout the entire school day and best of all students won't have to travel back and forth with their classroom device. That's a bonus when preparing presentations, doing research in a small group reading, and being able to show videos that have educational content.
