My students need California costumes of George Washington and other period clothing as well as a large ePhotoInc green screen to support the American Adventures we feel compelled to tell.
Our students are enthusiastic learners. Our classroom extends curricular objectives through science and history. Our families, staff, our PTO work extremely hard in attempts to meet students’ needs and excite our students in reaching further, digging deeper, and reading more. Funds are applied to areas of greatest need with extensions reconsidered if funds remain.
Learning is an adventure, and this year we traveled forward in time by asking Elon Musk to fund our space travels; we went Mesozoic and measured ourselves against Jurassic creatures; we mushed on the Iditarod (Way to go, Joar!).
Now, we have “Survived the Revolution” and would like to tell the tale! When recounting the story of us, a nation, The United States of America, our students become avid storytellers, performing riveting re-enactments on accounts they have found through extending their own reading.
My Project
As a living museum, Rockefeller saw the potential enrichment offered by the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg, as I hope you will also recognize the power of making history come alive for our students. An American Adventure allows students the use of costumes and green screen purchased, to tell the stories they have experienced this year by re-enacting them in digital recordings. Students will write, cast, act, record, and edit short films that narrate exciting stories from our American past.
Cross curricular objectives are used in project based learning to accomplish a goal that is highly motivating for all involved.
Your donation to An American Adventure will expand our technological skills as we use our one classroom iPad to shoot short films against a green screen that will offer large choices of backgrounds. Applied research and continued readings will strengthen our understanding of the when, where, and why of a timeline we already greatly enjoy. Collaborative skills will be used as students write scripts with narrations and dialogue to best capture each event they deem important. The costumes purchased, will complete the scene when students dress the part to deliver their lines. Whether it’s writing, reading, acting, costumes, background, editing, directing, or producing each child will readily discover the job they enjoy most while being apart of a larger endeavor. Our American history will be memorable and treasured, our skills in communications will promote confidence and high self-efficacy.
