Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are always excited when they enter the classroom, especially on lab days. They enjoy hands-on activities, working in small groups and being able to explore with their peers. My goal is to provide my students with an engaging, fun and safe learning environment. My school is located in a low social economic neighborhood where 95% of the students are on free or reduced price lunch. Most of my students are faced with many challenges in the classroom and at home.

My Project

My students have worked hard this year especially since fifth grade in Texas is considered a Student Success Initiative (SSI) grade. "As specified by these requirements, a student may advance to the next grade level only by passing these tests (Reading and Math STAAR test)..."(https://tea.texas.gov/). I encourage you to look them up they are difficult and tricky tests even for adults that have taken released versions.

Everyone students, teachers, school staff and parents are feeling this pressure to help ensure success on state testing and we want to celebrate them by having an amazing graduation celebration at the end of the year.

These caps and gowns will benefit our students by helping them feel "dressed to impress" while accepting their certificates. They will be able to keep their 2018 tassel to remember this important milestone in their educational journey. Your support will also help our future graduating classes since we will be able to reuse the caps and gowns for years to come.
