This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
IWe are nearing the end of the school year! Quarter 4 is the best time of the year. The students will be learning about and reading poetry. For some this will be their first exposure to poetry. The unit culminates in a project where they are required to create their very own poetry anthology. We celebrate with a poetry cafe and reading party!

My students love this unit. They get a "brain break" from the typical reading and writing. The Poetry Unit allows students the opportunity to explore their creative sides. They are given freedom to be unique and inspirational.
The spiral notebooks will help then jot down their ideas. They’ll use these to keep rough drafts of their poems. The cardstock and glitter paper will be used to assemble and design their poetry anthologies. They will use the markers, stickers, and other various items to create their unique books. Their final books are filled with original poems and drawings and images. This project will provide a fresh supply of the materials they can use to show off their artistry and imaginations.
