My school is a daily hub of activity from teachers to students to parents. We are located in South Carolina is one of the fastest-growing communities in our state. I currently teach 21 gifted and talented 5th graders. My students this year are a bright bunch of learners eager to grow academically and socially. They constantly question the world around them and love learning.
As a district, we believe in the motto "Children First". With this motto in mind, I believe it's my responsibility to look for ways to support my students in their learning.
My students work hard and play harder. They read, write, engage, collaborate, and think critically. They are ready to accept any challenge presented, and so am I.
My Project
My students love to read as much as I love to share great books with them. Often times the thing they remember about my class is the books they had access to while they were with me.
There is something magical about a good book.
It can completely transform your mood and ignite a spark. I love being able to share books with my students and my teacher heart swells when they talk about books with each other.
Keeping up with the newest and next great read is challenging and these books will go a long way to bring new, exciting and diverse reads to all my students. This project will bring some of the newest novels and picture books into my classroom for students to read, learn and explore. They'll be able to read independently, with partners and to the class. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase reading response activities to further support students' independent reading.
