Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Title I school seeks funding to establish a podcasting studio specifically designed to promote Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) among our students. This innovative project will provide a platform for students to explore and express their emotions, develop communication and interview skills, and foster a sense of connection within the school community.
Our project goals include: Creating a fully functional podcasting studio with essential equipment for student use; Implementing a training program to equip students with podcasting and interviewing skills; Launch a student-run podcast series focusing on themes of social-emotional learning such as a podcast series tackling bullying prevention strategies; Encourage teachers to integrate student podcasts into existing curriculum units for interactive SEL exploration.
Many of our students come from underprivileged backgrounds and lack access to technology-based learning tools. A podcasting studio would empower our students to share their stories and perspectives, fostering a sense of connection and promoting understanding between our school and the broader community.
