My students need clip Lavalier microphones and a Bluetooth handheld microphone system so they can be heard while they perform on stage in the classroom and the community.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in a high need area. Most of our students are English Language Learners. Theater is space where these students are able to make their voices heard even when they feel embarrassed or scared.
"Being on stage feels AMAZING" is what one student told me after doing an improvisational scene.
These students need to know their voices matter and that they will be heard.
Theater is space where students can feel confident that they can both succeed and fail without consequence. It is a safe space for these students that must be supported!
My Project
These lavaliere and handheld microphones will allow my students to be heard in our theater classroom. Our acoustics are very poor and everyday my students and I struggle to hear each other in our space. Students will use these microphones while doing scene work in class and in productions for our community.
These microphones will give my students the confidence to perform on stage and know that their voice will be heard.
These microphones will also allow for my many Spanish speaking students to use their native language onstage and feel empowered in their ability to share their culture loudly and proudly.
