My Students

My school is a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade New York City Public School located in Brooklyn. Bordered in the North by Crown Heights, which is a fast-changing community in which the African American and Hispanic populations are decreasing, and the Jewish population is rapidly increasing. Our mission is to educate, elevate and enrich our children's (including Special Ed and ENL) minds to achieve their fullest potential. We need our children to enter into society equipped with the skills needed to succeed in the Twenty-First Century. Our school vision begins with the philosophy that we must recognize the capabilities, responsibilities, contributions, and creativity of all diverse groups within our school community. Our school motto is: "If you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it!"

The majority of the students originate from low-income immigrant families ranging from Haitians, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Africans.

These traits of the community create the need for bilingual education to help the students maintain their home language, i.e.: Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, Hausa, and other African dialects, while they are acquiring English as a new language (ENL). In addition, there is also a need to provide adult education.

My Project

The Full HD Webcam and the Apple pencil will make a difference in my students' learning because the Webcam will deliver high quality and clear videos to students whether it is live instruction or pre-record instruction.

The Full HD Webcam along with the Apple Pencil for my iPad will help to deliver high quality synchronous and asynchronous instruction to my students.

I want to make high quality and clear instructional videos and tutorials for my students, families, and staff. The world of remote learning is still quite new to many in my school community. I am on a mission to take my remote teaching to the next level with these two tech items at my disposal.
