Dear Donors,
Please help me give my students a JBL speaker so that we can learn about different cultures and their music.
Many of my students are from different countries and have unique stories and cultures. I find music to be a very bonding tool that can unite us.
I plan to do a unit where each student can share their different music genres and favorite artists from their country. This will help expose the students to different rhythms and words. The kids will feel excited to see everyone enjoying their music. Many of my students don't speak English and they may feel very empowered sharing parts of their life.
A speaker will also be a nice way to invite students into our classroom in the morning. It is nice to walk in and learn in an environment that has music. At times we may listen to relaxing music, while at others we will blast a loud FUNKY tune.
With Gratitude,
Ms. Torres
