Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I have 30 English learners. They primarily speak Spanish at home. My goal is to get them to all be proficient in speaking and writing in English! Speaking in English is easier for them. Getting them to be proficient in writing in English has been a journey. They're so motivated to improve!
My students are English learners who are very motivated to do well in school!
They come from low income families, yet they are very happy and have a positive outlook on life. Our school is considered an overflow school which means we accept students when their designated school is too full to accept them. We currently have just under 1000 students, and majority of our classes are held in bungalows.
My Project
With these materials, my students will be able to go through the steps of the writing process with ease. The folders will help keep their writing organized while helping them understand exactly what each step means. The journals will help keep all of their journal writing in one place so that they can easily look back at the writing in the future and see the progress made throughout the year, and the test dividers will help each student be independent thinkers.
The requested materials will help my students better understand the writing process by making the writing process less abstract.
All of the materials will also help the students be more enthused about writing.
