This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do anything. I happily give it my all to teach these incredibly curious and imaginative students with high energy and engagement. Most of them speak English as a second language in an inner-city, Title I school and struggle through many hardships before even entering the classroom.

Despite many challenges, my students love learning and trying new ideas to make their projects better.

Our school supports all kinds of creative thought processes because, in a high poverty neighborhood, it is sometimes the only safe place that can provide support and opportunity to overcome the struggles of meeting our rigorous state standards.

My Project

There are so many things that can be seen around the world that can help students learn. It is unrealistic to be able to visit any or all of these places, and this is where Virtual and Augmented Reality comes into play.

Learning outside of the classroom allows students the physical space to converse, collaborate, and problem solve without walls to stifle their learning.

Using the fifteen Amazon Fire tablets requested, we can use the amazing Google Expeditions app, and we can travel to Outer Space, swim among The Coral Reef, or walk through the Great Wall of China. After visiting these places, we will be able to add greater detail to our writing, enhance our science experiments, and have deeper conversations about our learning. Please support this project as it breaks down walls and brings much needed technology into the hands of inner city, public school students.
