Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Building rollercoasters will provide students will concrete examples on a very abstract concept. Most students have experienced most of the concepts in physics but cannot connect the terms to every-day-actions. Students are divided into groups of four in the classroom. Collaboration and brainstorming is done in groups, which provides them with an opportunity to work together to build great things.

Building the rollercoasters will give them the opportunity to visualize concepts that are hard to understand.

This project contains a cross-curricular approach which targets many of the subjects taught at this grade that most students struggle with.

Students will plan and create a paper roller coaster, evaluate and test (retest), analyze how to best manipulate the forces of friction and gravity, explain the difference between potential and kinetic energy, calculate problems, and better understand centripetal force.
