Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school located in a predominantly Hispanic and African American neighborhood. My students are excited to learn, create, and express themselves through artistic experimentation. While they may be short on funds, they have an abundance of creativity and imagination.
My Project
In order to continue to educate my students about the various forms of symmetry used in art, I would like to introduce them to the most beautiful symmetrical form: Radial symmetry. With this perfectly round watercolor paper my students will be able to create radially symmetric designs using paint on a durable surface. Having this paper at my disposal will eliminate time consuming tracing, cutting, and the waste of perfectly good rectangular watercolor paper. Since I only have the privilege of seeing my students for a short time once a week, this will allow them to focus on artistic creation rather than preparation.
