Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of different cultures. We are in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. My students have a variety of disabilities including autism, mild-moderate, severe mental physical disabilities with cerebral palsy, and also mental physical disabilities with hypotonic muscle tone. More than half of my class is PK and kindergarten age, with the older ones having various grade levels. What makes my class really special is their ability to work together, share, and play together well. They really are each others' best friends and I love to watch them play and interact together. My school also fosters an accepting attitude toward students with disabilities, so my students have peer buddies at PE. Even though my students are low functioning, they have consistently surprised me with being able to do more at times than I expected they could. The different mix of ages and disabilities makes my class interesting and challenging in helping them meet their potential.
My Project
With the five new mats, our kids will be comfortable.
Your help is needed to fund these hygienic mats.
We appreciate any help you can give us. My students are on old mats that are not in great shape. Our new mats will help with re-positioning and keeping them comfortable. We like to be on the floor where we can see outside. These new mats will keep us up off the floor so we won't be cold—instead, we will be toasty warm on these cold winter days.
We appreciate any help you can give. We will be rewarded with sweet smiles! Thank you.
