My students need amazing, high-interest, award-winning books in our library's collection. These books are ones that are continually requested by our students, but do not have in our collection due to our extremely limited budget.
Our students come from a large urban area in Connecticut, and are an extremely diverse population of students, with families from countries around the globe. Many of our students are English Language Learners for whom English is a second language, and over half of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is a true melting pot of students with cultural backgrounds from near and far, which makes our school so great!
Our students have backgrounds from approximately 40 different countries around the world...we are a fantastic mixture of cultures and backgrounds!
Each day my middle school students come into my library begging for these books, but I am unable to provide them because of my extremely limited library budget. As the school librarian, it breaks my heart to turn them away empty-handed.
Our school library's collection is small and outdated, and our students need these high-interest, award-winning books to inspire a lifetime love of reading within them!
Your donation will help update our library's collection and put these books into the hands of students who crave them. Unlike their more affluent peers in neighboring districts, our students do not have access to a robust school library collection, and it is my mission to give them the same opportunities for great books as them.
Any amount you can give to this project is greatly appreciated, and we are extremely grateful for your kindness to our amazing kids!
